GENERAL SUMMARY

The purpose of this job is to supervise a staff engaged in the maintenance of County buildings and grounds. Supervises and participates in maintenance activities including maintenance and repair of all mechanical systems, grounds maintenance, and related projects. Performs some of the more complex maintenance and repair tasks. Oversees the work of custodial staff responsible for the cleaning of County Buildings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

  • Supervises maintenance, repairs, and cleaning of County building and grounds.
  • Supervises maintenance and custodial staff. Participates in employment interviews and makes hiring recommendations. Trains new hires, assigns duties, schedules employees and helps resolve employee relation's issues.
  • Receives requests for maintenance work to County buildings, sets priorities and schedules work. Assists in the design, selection, and installation of new equipment and system components.
  • Supervises, instructs and assists complex repairs to HV AC, electrical and other mechanical    Oversees  electrical,   plumbing,   and   mechanical  systems repairs and projects.
  • Meets with various inspectors and regulatory safety personnel regarding county building systems. Implements safety programs and provides safety training for Checks all facility mechanical equipment and systems into ongoing preventative maintenance schedule. Assigns staff to provide scheduled maintenance.
  • Contacts vendors to order maintenance and custodial supplies and parts inventory.
  • Wires and installs computer and telephone equipment.
  • Assists maintenance and custodial staff in assigned duties when necessary.
  • Performs related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education and Experience:

Education: High School diploma or equivalency

Experience: 1 to 3 years maintenance experience working all trade areas

  • Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities

  • Preservation of plumbing, electrical locks, lighting, masonry, grounds maintenance
