NOTICE 
As provided by MCR 8.110(C)(3)(i), effective January 1, 2023, all 5th Circuit Court filings must be made in person, by U.S mail, or by placing in the drop box located in the Historic Courthouse. The 5th Circuit Court will no longer accept email filings.  Therefore, the last day to submit filings is December 30, 2022.

The County Clerk’s office is open to the public from 8:00 am until 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. until 4:30 pm Monday through Friday, with the exception of major holidays.

ACCEPTED 8:15 a.m. - 4:15 p.m. by appointment only

THE OFFICES WILL BE CLOSED FROM 12:30 TO 1:30 PM DAILY FOR LUNCH

The County Clerk's Office will be available by appointment only for:

  • DEATH certificates
  • MARRIAGE certificates and APPLICATIONS
  • CONCEALED PISTOL LICENSES
  • BUSINESS REGISTRATIONS
  • NOTARY APPLICATIONS

The Barry County Clerk performs and provides a great variety of public services. The office is mandated by the Michigan Constitution and in accordance with Michigan Law is an elected office with a term of four years. The County Clerk, like other county wide offices, is elected each presidential elections year.

The Clerk is the chief election official of the County and supervises all national, state, and local elections. Administration of the Michigan Campaign Finance Reporting Act is also the responsibility of the clerk.

The Clerk processes notary public commissions, issues and/or records marriage licenses, birth and death certificates, concealed weapons permits, military discharge orders, assumed name and co-partnership certificates, and numerous other filings.
