GENERAL SUMMARY
The purpose of this job is to provide casework functions to review, independently assess, and analyze domestic Friend of the Court cases for the purpose of enforcing, reviewing, and modifying child support, parenting time, and custody provisions of court orders. Completes investigations, reports, and drafts orders and recommendations for the court as necessary.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
- Conducts information gathering conferences regarding custody, support, and/or
parenting time disputes and arrangements; attempts to voluntarily reach mutual
agreement and/or understanding of issues and completes necessary reports,
recommendations, and orders. - Enforces compliance with court orders and drafts stipulations and other order
modifications as necessary. Refers parties for formal mediation as indicated. - Investigates, gathers, and analyzes information, prepares reports and
recommendations regarding custody, support, and parenting time issues for the
court and provides testimony as necessary. - Supervises an active caseload, which includes monitoring cases for compliance with
court orders and assessment of cases for enforcement. Makes referrals based on
the needs and barriers identified for each individual case and regularly meets with
customers to assess and monitor compliance. - Investigates financial statements of litigant's pay stubs, income tax returns and other
relevant documents for the calculations of child support and spousal support. - Review and modification of child support orders.
- Performs locate functions
- Initiates and/or responds to intergovernmental enforcement requests, communicates
with other jurisdictions regarding order enforcement and payment inquiries. - Educates clients on the policies and procedures and participates in the orientation program of the Friend of the Court Office. Represents the Friend of the Court office to community groups and organizations as indicated.
- Maintains case records and statistics, and prepares case activity and related reports.
- Responds to inquiries from attorneys, customers, and other related agencies and explains court policies and procedures
- May serve in a back-up capacity in the absence of other office employees
- Performs related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience
Education: Bachelor's degree in psychology, criminal justice, social work, counseling or a closely related field.
Experience: 1-3 years of case supervision experience preferably in a court or counseling, mental health, substance abuse agency or related area.

- The court system and procedures used in domestic relations matters
- Other resources in the community to which the parties can be referred for assistance
- Child development, clinical issues relating to children, the effects of divorce on
children, and child custody research - State statutes, court rules and procedures related to domestic relation matters
- Federal regulations as required to process intergovernmental requests
- English grammar, spelling, punctuation
- Legal terminology and court procedures
- Principles and practices of basic bookkeeping
- Modern office procedures, methods, and computer software, equipment
Skill in:
