Request Reports/FOIA

Request for Reports

This category includes any request for a police report. The vast majority of these requests are for accident reports. However, this category also includes Freedom of Information Requests for several different documents. This fulfillment can take anywhere from five minutes to several hours.

Freedom of Information Requests

The Records Division processes all Freedom of Information requests for the Sheriff’s Office. If you wish to make a request under the Freedom of Information Act for a report we have on file, you must submit a written letter, or obtain a form from the Sheriff’s office. The letter must explain in detail about the report you are looking for including the date or incident number, and the name(s) of the person (s) involved. If you did not initiate the report then you must describe your connection with the report. This is needed to determine what might be excluded under the Freedom of Information Act to protect the privacy of the individuals involved. There is a fee of $5.00 + 50 cents per page.  If a FOIA (Freedom Of Information Act) report is requested by mail, we also require a day-time phone number for contact purposes in case some clarification is needed.
