The Probate Court is authorized to order the State of Michigan to create a registration of foreign birth for a child who was born in a foreign country and was adopted through the country of birth. The petitioners may make a request to change the name of the child at the time the motion is filed. There is a $150.00 filing fee.
A copy of the birth certificate and translation from the foreign country and a copy of the adoption order and translation from the foreign country must be attached to the motion.
The cost for the Delayed Registration of Foreign Birth is $40.00 and $12.00 for additional certified copies obtained at the time of filing the request with the State. The Application to Establish Delayed Registration Foreign Birth is available at the Probate Court.
