The Barry County Drug Court is a special Court that processes selected felony cases involving non-violent, drug and alcohol using offenders. The Court’s goal is fourfold:
- To decrease the incidence of OUIL offenses and resulting problems.
- Reduce the number of individuals who are dependent on a substance.
- Reduce the flow of associated criminal behavior and its impact on the individual, the family and the community.
- Lower the County’s prison commitment rate by enrolling offenders who fall within the straddle cell guideline range.
