Meet the Staff


Jim Westra
graduated from Michigan State University. He retired from the State of Michigan after 30 years. He has been employed as a parole/probation supervisor, and the director of the men’s treatment program and men’s division at the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission. In 2000, Jim took a position in Barry County in the Office of Community Corrections and assisted Judge Fisher in setting up the Adult Drug Court. He has nearly 40 years of experience in dealing with offenders and substance abuse issues.

Sandra Miller graduated from Michigan State University with a Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work. She has worked in various clinical settings providing assessments and treatment services in the area of chemical dependence for over 20 years. In 2003, she accepted a position with the Barry County Adult Drug Court.

Karolyn Brower graduated from Grand Rapids Community College with an Associates Degree in Home Interiors and Design. She worked for 9 years as a Sales Assistant in the Sales and Marketing Office of the Grand Rapids Marriott/Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza. In 2001, Karolyn began working in the Barry County Adult Probation Office as a file clerk once a week. In 2003, she began working part-time for the Barry County Office of Community Corrections and Barry County Adult Drug Court.
