To provide relief outside of the Soldier’s Home for honorably discharged, indigent soldiers, sailors, marines, nurses and members of women’s auxiliaries and the indigent wives, widows and minor children of such indigent or deceased soldiers. Also, $300 burial benefits for eligible veterans and spouses.

STATE TRUST FUND PROCEDURE: The following papers must be presented before you may file for Trust Fund Assistance.

  1. Discharge papers or report of Separation DD-214. Must show services date and place of entry
  2. Proof of residence
  3. Marriage certificate
  4. Birth certificates of minor children
  5. Bills for which you are requesting assistance.
  6. Interview

BASIC ELIGIBILITY

Legal resident of the State of Michigan at the time of entering the service, or resided in the State of Michigan for 5 consecutive years prior to the date of application. Must have had 180 days active service (sole-exception – 90 days for World War I Veterans).

NEED DEFINED:

Any emergency in the life of honorably discharged veterans and their legal dependents who meet the eligibility requirements which necessitate immediate assistance for food, fuel, clothing, shelter and other unforeseen emergencies.
