FORMS:

Responsible for the administration and enforcement of the County Zoning Ordinance & soil erosion as it pertains to new buildings & alterations; this includes issuance of zoning permits for the following townships: Assyria, Baltimore, Barry, Carlton, Castleton, Hastings, Irving, Johnstown, Maple Grove, Orangeville, and, Woodland. Soil erosion permits are issued for the entire County.

  1. Assist the Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals with planning, zoning, special uses, etc. as well as assisting Barry County Health Dept., County Prosecutor, and DEQ to improve & develop Barry County in a desirable manner.

  2. Determine addresses for new residential, commercial, industrial sites, and to assign new addresses for new private roads for the whole county, except the City of Hastings, Woodland Twp, and Village of Woodland.

  3. PCI issues all building, electrical, mechanical and plumbing permits in all the townships listed above including Prairieville, Thornapple, Yankee Springs, the Villages of Freeport, Middleville, Nashville, & Woodland. Mechanical & plumbing permits are also issued in Hope and Rutland Townships.
