The Barry County Clerk performs and provides a great variety of public services. The office is mandated by the Michigan Constitution and in accordance with Michigan Law is an elected office with a term of four years. The County Clerk, like other county wide offices, is elected each presidential elections year.

The Clerk is the chief election official of the County and supervises all national, state, and local elections. Administration of the Michigan Campaign Finance Reporting Act is also the responsibility of the clerk.

The Clerk processes notary public commissions, issues and/or records marriage licenses, birth and death certificates, concealed pistol licenses, military discharge orders, assumed name and co-partnership certificates, and numerous other filings.
